Meet Curator Suite 1503 at the RYSE, Autograph Collection hotel in Seoul, South Korea. And this extraordinary suite houses an exceptionally long bed (6 meters), which stretches across almost the entire length of the room. So if you are interested in feeling like Gulliver in the land of giants, you are welcome to a place that challenges the accepted perceptions regarding hotel accommodation (and in general). The Euronews website reports that the suite, which was created in collaboration with MSCHF – an art collective from Brooklyn – is designed in the style of an art installation and includes that very bed, which was nicknamed "BED2525". It was born under the concept of "A long bed for a long sleep in the distant future".
How miserable the housekeepers are
The idea was born out of the "Seemingly necessary need for larger and more adapted accommodation spaces, as humans continue to grow taller from generation to generation – and as preparation for the day when giants might return to walk upon the face of the Earth", so according to the art collective. So true, giant creatures are not yet walking among us, but already now this bed poses a real challenge when it comes to changing its sheets. In short, one should not envy the housekeepers of this hotel. And another question that certainly arises is where on earth did they find this monstrous mattress?
One way or another, the bed is large enough to comfortably accommodate an entire family, although the maximum occupancy when booking the suite stands at four people only. Alongside the special construction that was required to fit the bed into the space, it is worth knowing that the suite displays another selection of art and design pieces from the New York collective. Among the works, one can find the Big Red Boots that became viral, inspired by the shoes worn by the hero of the anime series "Astro Boy". Additional works in the tiny art gallery within the suite include paintings from MSCHF's Botched Masters series, which recreates classical works through deliberately distorted duplications.
And also regards from Disney
And if you are visiting Seoul and prefer a more conventional stay, then Suite 1503 at RYSE would not be your obvious choice. But if you did choose it after all, you should know that it comes with several benefits and treats, such as breakfast for two and amenities like a large wireless speaker, a smart TV, and even face masks.
The boutique hotel, which belongs to the Marriott chain, offers a variety of rooms with inspiring names, including the Director Suite, the Producer Suite, the Artist Suite, and the Executive Producer Suite. In addition, until August 31 this year, Disney fans can also choose the "Collect" package, which includes a variety of merchandise products, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse dolls, a gift box from the Disney Store in Seoul, a branded canvas bag, and a coupon for purchase at the Disney Store.
