Nour Atallah, a Palestinian student granted refugee status in France, has been deported to Qatar to complete her studies, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said Sunday on X/Twitter.
Atallah was set to begin studying law and communications at Sciences Po Lille university in the fall until old antisemitic social-media posts of hers resurfaced.
In posts on her X/Twitter account, which has since been deleted, she advocated for the filmed execution of the hostages and shared a video of Adolf Hitler saying, “Kill the Jews everywhere.”
Atallah also eulogized her uncle, who served as a bodyguard for Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the founder of Hamas.
Revoked status and deportation
The university said Atallah had been accepted on a scholarship, but upon being notified of her posts, the matter was referred to the Education Ministry, which decided to cancel her student status.
“The minister for Europe and foreign affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot, stressed the unacceptable nature of the comments made by Ms. Nour Atallah, a Gazan student, before she entered French territory,” the French
Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said Sunday. “Given the seriousness of the situation, Ms. Atallah was unable to remain in France. She left France today to go to Qatar to continue her studies.”
“France thanks the Qatari authorities for their decisive cooperation,” it said.
