Abbas request the UN declare a Palestinian state is an idle threat," Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said Saturday.
"This is a bluff aimed at pressuring Israel," Ayalon explained during a cultural event in Modi'in. "This shows that there is no real intention to resolve the Palestinian conflict," Ayalon continued.

"After ten months of a settlement freeze, Israel had to stand by its
obligation to its citizens and to the world. We support the peace
process but not at the expense of our security interests."
Ayalon
also discussed the coalition and did not deny that Kadima may join
[Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu's government. "Kadima can join the
government if it fits in with its guidelines ," he said. "We do not
exclude anyone and we do expect anyone to rule out others."
