"One death is too much," US President Donald Trump said about the Iranian protests during his Tuesday speech in Detroit.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said that "help was on its way" to Iran and asked Iranians to keep protesting against the Islamic Republic regime.

"Iranian Patriots, keep protesting - take over your institutions! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price," Trump shared on Truth Social.

"I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters stops. Help is on its way. MIGA!" he assured.

Trump to meet officials on Iran response decision

Trump's comments come as he is expected to convene senior administration officials on Tuesday to discuss possible courses of action regarding Iran. The meeting will be "significant," several US officials told The Jerusalem Post.

According to a Monday report by The Wall Street Journal, US Vice President JD Vance is among the senior officials pushing Trump towards a new round of negotiations with Iran as a final option before striking the regime.

Vance, alongside other senior officials, will meet with Trump on Tuesday to try to persuade him to enter a new negotiation round with the Islamic Republic regime before taking military actions in response to the protests in the country and the violent repression by Iranian authorities.

According to political sources contacted by WSJ, President Trump is currently more inclined towards military action against Iran, but his final decision will only come after being briefed on all his options during a Tuesday meeting.

Tariffs for nations with commercial ties to Iran

Trump also announced on Monday that any country that does business with Iran will face a 25% tariff on trade with the US, as Tehran grapples with its most substantial anti-government protests in years.

Iran, a member of the OPEC oil producers group, exported products to 147 trading partners in 2022, according to the World Bank's most recent data.

Its top trading partners include China, other East Asian countries, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Germany.
