The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is slated to hold a classified operational update on Operation Roaring Lion on Monday.

The committee is scheduled to vote on declaring a special state of emergency on the home front, chairperson MK Boaz Bismuth announced.

Additionally, representatives of the IDF and the National Security Council are expected to appear on Monday before the Knesset Subcommittee for Intelligence, led by Bismuth, to provide a confidential briefing on the progress of the joint Israel-US operation against Iran.

Knesset suspends activities amid Iranian missile strikes

The meeting comes after the Knesset temporarily suspended all activities on Sunday, amid the ongoing Iranian missile strikes targeting Israel.

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana announced on Saturday evening that all committee meetings and planned plenum sessions scheduled for Sunday would be canceled. Visitor groups, guests, and tours were also barred from entering the Knesset building.

The Knesset said a situational assessment would be held on Sunday to determine whether the parliament could resume normal functioning on Monday. However, by Sunday evening at press time, Ohana’s office said there was still no update on whether Knesset activities would resume or under what framework.

Despite the broader suspension, Bismuth confirmed that the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee would convene for the confidential operational intelligence briefing on Monday.
