The result of the Israeli election "doesn't matter" for Tehran, Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei claimed on Monday.

"I don't think there will be an election there," Baghaei said. "There, like in the movie Strangelove, there is a competition between different gangs to commit more evil; in other words, it is a competition between different people to commit more murders."

He also accused Israel of carrying out a "genocide of Palestinians," and of being skilled at conducting false flag operations.

"The fact that the Zionist regime threatens others and uses rhetoric out of desperation is part of the evil of this regime," he claimed. "What I can assure you is that, regardless of rhetoric, we are carefully monitoring developments and our powerful armed forces will not hesitate to defend Iran's territory."

Mecca pact members meeting will deal with Israel, Lebanon, US-Iran war

Baghaei also said that the meeting with the Mecca pact members in Tehran would tackle issues such as Israel's 'expansionist' policies, Lebanon, and the US war with Iran.

"Such a meeting cannot be held without considering the consequences of the US and Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran and its consequences for the entire region," he emphasized. "This issue will definitely be one of the important topics in this meeting."
