Sheetrit to oppose libel law amendment unless it is changed

MK Meir Sheetrit (Kadima) will vote against the libel law amendment if it isn't changed significantly, he said Monday evening.
Sheetrit, who was one of two who proposed the initiative, said that if fundamental changes are not made in preparation for the second and third readings of the law amendment, them he will oppose it.
The law amendment would raise the court-imposed penalty for publishing libelous material - without proof of loss.
