Unfortified schools in Ashdod to be closed Friday due to rocket threat

Unfortified schools in Ashdod were slated to be closed on Friday following a string of rocket fire from the Gaza Strip on southern Israel in the early hours of Thursday.

More than three-thousand students were expected to miss class due to the precaution.

Earlier Thursday evening, the Code Red rocket alert siren sounded in the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council on. The IDF Spokesperson said no rockets had fallen in Israeli territory.
