Presidential candidate Dalia Itzik hopes Ben-Eliezer will prove innocence in graft probe
Presidential hopeful Dalia Itzik responded on Saturday to the decision of her former fellow candidate Labor MK Binaymin Ben-Eliezer to quit the race three days before the Knesset votes on Israel's new president.

"I'm sorry for MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, who has many credits from the significant roles he has served in and I hope that he will prove his innocence," she said.

"This is not how we had wished the presidential race would be like," the former Knesset speaker vying to become Israel's first woman president said in regard to the recent events surrounding Ben-Eliezer.
