Elkin to Shin Bet: Find out which MK leaked intel from defense c'tee meeting
Spokesman for Elkin says MK is concerned because leaking sensitive information from committee, whose meetings are classified, harms national security.
Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Ze'ev Elkin asked the Shin Bet to investigate who leaked information from the committee's meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Thursday.

The information leaked includes that the government is currently not working on a ceasefire with Hamas and that legal advisers are blocking it from cutting off electricity with Gaza.

A spokeswoman for Elkin said the MK is complaining because leaking sensitive information from the committee, whose meetings are classified, harms national security.

In addition, she said, it harms Israeli democracy, because officials are hesitant to speak to the committee, rendering it unable to do its job of supervising the Defense and Foreign Ministries' activities.

Leaking information to the press is a longstanding tradition of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.  Precious chairman and now-Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman cracked down on the phenomenon and Elkin continued the practice.
