Tel Aviv accountant arrested on fraud charges

Police arrested a Tel Aviv account on Sunday on suspicion of defrauding customers, the police announced on Monday.

The accountant, 48, a resident of Herzliya, is alleged to have taken his clients’ checks meant for the Israel Tax Authority and used them for personal use. Police conducted a several months long undercover investigation that led to the arrests.

The accountant is alleged to have stolen NIS 300,000 from his clients. During police questioning the suspect connected himself with some of the allegations, police said. The suspect’s remand was extended by five days in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Sunday.
