Anthony Scaramucci to Appear on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

LOS ANGELES - Stephen Colbert has booked Anthony Scaramucci as a guest on "The Late Show." The short-lived White House communications director is scheduled to appear this upcoming Monday.

Colbert broke the news on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon. In true Colbert fashion, the comedian made light of his interviewee, warning his show's "censors to get ready," poking fun at Scaramucci's affinity for non-broadcast friendly words, as demonstrated by the explosive interview that led to his firing by Trump's administration.

Landing the Scaramucci interview is a big "get" for Colbert, who has been owning the political beat among the other late-night hosts and comedians throughout Trump's presidency.

Scaramucci -- known on pop culture as "The Mooch" -- has been in the limelight ever since he was fired after 10 days on the job in the White House, following a vulgar interview that was published in which he slammed Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon and former chief of staff Reince Priebus.

Colbert's interview will mark the first time the public has heard from Scaramucci, since Trump dropped him as White House communications director.

After he was fired, he was set to hold an online press event, which he ended up canceling to "focus on family" and his "work in the private sector," according to Scaramucci, who at that point tweeted to his followers, "stay tuned."
