After barring Israeli singer Izhar Ashdot from performing his anti-IDF song entitled "a matter of habit," the state-owned Army Radio on Sunday evening featured the song on its 11:00 p.m. program.
The song includes a blistering attack on Israel's soldiers: "In their heart is only hate, evil intention and darkness... they learn cruelly... how to instill fear...how to kill – it’s just a matter of habit.”
The radio station's earlier decision to bar Ashdot drew sharp condemnation from various groups and personalities, who attacked it for harming freedom of expression in Israel. Proponents of the ban argued that Ashdot was free to perform on private stations, but that it was out of place for a state-owned institution to promote music that attacks its soldiers.
