Court releases teenage girl in Beershaba murder case

A 17-year-old girl arrested in connection with the stabbing murder of father-of-two Gadi Vichman was released on Tuesday against the wishes of police.
The girl was present at a small park with a group of young men on Friday night in Beersheba, when one of the group's members  allegedly stabbed Vichman after he asked them to keep the noise down.
Police sought to extend her remand by several days, but the Beersheba Magistrate's Court rejected the police's request, saying she had cooperated fully with police and had no criminal past, unlike the remainder of the suspects.
The girl reenacted the events she witnessed before detectives on Sunday in full view of Vichman's widow, Michal, who watched from her balcony.
Police said the main murder suspect, a 22-year-old resident of Beersheba, is in custody.
