An attack on Iran will pull Israel into a regional war, according to former Mossad chief Meir Dagan during an interview with Channel 2's "Uvda" show, a short section of which was broadcast on Tuesday.

"The question is what will happen the day after [an attack] and what prices we wiil pay the next day," he said.

In response to remarks made by Defense Minister Ehud Barak in which he said there is no chance even 500 civilians would be killed, Dagan said that "there will be many more."

Dagan also addressed comments made during a PBS interview in which Barak conceded that if he were in Iran's place he would "probably" try to acquire nuclear weapons. "If I was Iranian I would not develop a nuclear bomb," said Dagan.

Dagan also the slammed the criticism against him and attempts to silence him. "No defense minister, prime minister, or finance minister, all of who I respect, will prevent me from expressing my opinion," Dagan added.
