Israel is offering humanitarian assistance to the citizens of Syria, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said Sunday morning on Israel Radio.

Though Israel is not in direct contact with the Syrian opposition, Ayalon said, it is in constant contact with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

"Without massive intervention from the forces of United Nations forces, there will be no way of stopping the suffering of the Syrian nation," Ayalon said.
