“Israel’s collective punishment of the civilian population in Gaza must end today,” the United Nations special rapporteur on Palestinian human rights was quoted by official Palestinian Authority news agency as saying on Friday.

According to WAFA, Falk called on Israel to lift the blockade, citing its economic "strangulation" of the city.

"Six years of Israel’s calculated strangulation of the Gaza Strip has stunted the economy and has kept most Gazans in a state of perpetual poverty and aid dependency," WAFA quoted the UN expert as saying.
