Hezbollah chief admits his group's presence in Iraq

Hezbollah, Lebanon's Shiite militia is fighting the militant Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in Iraq, its chief Hassan Nasrallah revealed for the first time on while speaking to supporters in southern Beirut, AFP reported on Monday.

“We may not have spoken about Iraq before, but we have a limited presence because of the sensitive phase that Iraq is going through,” Nasrallah said, referring to the efforts of Iraqi troops, other Shiite militias and Kurdish forces against Islamic State.

“I say, come with us to Iraq, and to any place where we can fight this threat that is threatening our (Muslim) nation and our region,” he added.

Hezbollah, armed and guided by Iran, is already been engaged in Syria's civil war where it has fought alongside embattled president Bashar Assad against various rebel groups including Islamic State and Jahat al-Nusra, al-Qaida's Syrian branch.
