Hundreds attend funeral of motorcycle accident victims

Hundreds of loved ones made their way to Petach Tikvah on Sunday to bid farewell to Avikam and Liat Gur, who were killed in a road accident the day earlier while on a motorcycle trip in northern Israel.

The Gurs were eulogized by their son Daniel, who a little over a week earlier celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.

On Saturday, the Gurs were on an organized trip on highway 70 in the north with around 80 other motorcyclists when Avikam's bike slipped and he lost control of the vehicle. Both Avikam and Liat were thrown from their bike and collided into a guardrail, and died on the spot.

Avikam was a seasoned motorcyclist with years of experience, who was well-known in the Israeli cycling community, and had guided tours in the past.

In addition to Daniel, Avikam's son from a previous marriage, the couple lives behind an infant born only a few months ago.
