The heads of the bipartisan Israel Allies Caucus in the US Congress sent a letter of congratulations on Thursday to Nir Barkat,, the newly reelected mayor of Jerusalem.
In the letter the Caucus praised Barkat's record on Jerusalem's economic development.
“During your tenure, we have watched Jerusalem continue to prosper as one of the world’s great cities,” the Congressmen wrote.
“Your vision for the city’s economic development and your work towards maintaining Israel’s eternal capital as a place where Jews, Christians, Muslims and others are free to worship is truly commendable,” they added.
The letter was signed by the four Caucus co-chairs, Congressmen Eliot Engel, Doug Lamborn, Trent Franks and Brad Sherman.
