Italy PM Monti shortens US trip after bomb and quake

ROME - Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti said on Sunday he would return home early from the United States following a bomb that killed a teenager in the south on Saturday and an earthquake that struck northern Italy on Sunday.
Monti said in Chicago, where he is attending a NATO summit, that he would stay for only the first session, leave on Sunday night and be in Rome by Monday. His comments were broadcast on Italian television.
