It’s ‘International cleaning day’

About 250,000 volunteers are expected to pick up the country’s litter on Monday, during which Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund will honor international Clean Up the World Day.

Monday will mark the 14th year in a row that KKL-JNF hosts a Clean Up Day in Israel, and the organization will recruit schoolchildren, soldiers, students, youth movement members and others from a variety of communities to participate in making the country a cleaner place. Clean Up the World Day – this year called Clean Up the World Weekend – officially took place this year on the weekend of September 12 through 14, and Israel’s Environmental Protection Ministry held beach cleaning events during the week that followed.

The campaign mobilizes approximately 35 million people in 130 countries each year, according to its administrators. KKL-JNF will hold an opening ceremony in Ashkelon on Monday morning.
