Jewish graves vandalized in Southern France

March 24, 2012 19:51

Over 30 Jewish graves were desecrated in a cemetery in Nice, France, Israel Radio reported Saturday.

According to the report, Stars of David were torn off of memorial candles attached to the graves. The vandalism was confined to the Jewish portion of the cemetery.

It is unclear exactly when the desecration took place or whether the acts were related to Monday's Toulouse shootings, in which 4 Jews were killed.

Christian Estrosi, Nice's mayor, said the incident should not be taken lightly, and the High Council of Muslims in Southern France strongly condemned it.
