Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On on Tuesday harshly criticized comments that Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon reportedly made about US Secretary of State John Kerry and called for his dismissal from the government.
On Tuesday, the daily tabloid Yedioth Ahronoth
quoted Ya’alon as telling associates in private conversations that “the only thing that can ‘save’ us is for John Kerry to win his Nobel Prize and leave us alone."
Gal-On stated that "Kerry's obsession with peace is preferable to an aggressive obsession with a messianic vision of a 'whole' Land of Israel."
"I call on the prime minister to rid himself of Ya'alon and [Economy Minister Naftali] Bennett and to free himself from these extreme right wing influences. They do not provide a safe net for advancing the strategic and existential needs of Israel," added Gal-On.
