October rainfall precipitation approaches all-time record as wet weather continues

As precipitation continued to pound Israel on Thursday afternoon, rainfall accumulation was approaching record amounts for the month of October.
Through the morning hours, the Israel Meteorological Service monitoring station at Shefayim had recorded 214 mm. of rain since the beginning of October - just 5 mm. under the monthly record, according to Dr. Amos Porat, head of the Climate Department at the IMS. In the year 2000, 219 mm. were measured in the month of October at the Mikve Yisrael station - making the current amounts "very close," he said.
Updated information about rainfall amounts throughout the country would be available later on Thursday afternoon, Porat added.
