PA tries to block Israel from hosting soccer competition

The Palestinian Authority announced on Thursday that it was seeking to prevent Israel from hosting the European Football Youth Championships in 2013, claiming that Israel has held in administrative detention three Palestinian football players.

Chairman of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, sent a letter to the Speaker of the European Football Association, Michel Platini, expressing deep concern for the fate of the players that he claims are in administrative detention.

One of them
, Mahmoud Srsac, has been hunger striking for more than 80 days, according to Rajoub.
