Peres: 'Terrorists turned Gaza into man-made tragedy'

Peres continued his outgoing speech as president during Knesset ceremony, and talked about the Gaza operation, including the hidden terror tunnels that the IDF has uncovered.

He said terrorists turned Gaza into a man-made tragedy, and that Israel never opened fire on Gaza but rather, retaliated when it was shot at. "We are fighting to ensure our citizens' safety," he noted.

Hamas planted seeds of death and harvested death, the president continued, mentioning their use of children as human shields.

Addressing the terrorist organisation directly, he said, for 66 years, terror hasn't brought you any gains. "You lose out when you shoot," he said.
