A former Hamas official was kidnapped Saturday night while driving his car in Damascus, London-based Al-Hayat
daily reported Monday.
Mustafa Leddawi had held several leadership positions within the Gaza-based terror organization, including representative in Syria, Lebanon and Iran.
According to the report, Hamas has contacted authorities in Syria regarding the Leddawi's disappearance.
Leddawi had been working as a journalist, and has in the past criticized his former organization. In a recent article, Leddawi criticized Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal for his position on the Doha Declaration and decried the divide between Palestinian political parties.
