The Iranian Navy on Tuesday successfully test-fired a new missile from its first Iranian-built Jamaran destroyer in the waters of the Persian Gulf, the Islamic republic's Press TV reported.

According to the report, the surface-to-surface Nour missile hit its target at a distance of 100 kilometers.

Despite the successful test-firing, Iranian military officials announced plans to build an upgraded version of the missile with a 300-kilometers range.
