The hottest Jewish news: Allison Brie does the Charleson, Maude Apatow the Jewish teen "it girl."

Marriage proposal YouTube videos are old-hat at this point; we've all seen plenty of them. But this week, the most Jewish wedding proposal of all hit the Internet. Eric LaBarre proposed to Nina Sturtz in a musical video filmed partially at her parents' house in Long Island while she was on a Birthright trip to Israel. Where did the two meet? JDate, of course.

What happens when the weatherman gets laryngitis? Get Scarlett Johansson to fill in, of course. The actress visited the Today show this week when legendary meteorologist Al Roker was feeling under the weather, and took over.

Johansson may have to move out of the way soon, because there's another Jewish "it girl" in town – Maude Apatow, daughter of comedy writer-director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann. Maude, 14, will be reprising her role from Knocked Up in the sort-of sequel This is 40, but she's making a name  for herself through her funny twitter feed and a regular blog on Zooey Deschanel's site Hello Giggles. Teen Vogue caught up with the teen queen this week.

Maude Apatow

Speaking of Deschanel, comedy group Above Average Network imagined what would happen if her hit TV sitcom New Girl replaced her with an elderly Jewish woman named Muriel Rosenberg. Let's just say that there are a lot of incontinence jokes.

In sitcom news, Boy Meets World is getting a TV sequel called Girl Meets World. The premise of the show is that Cory (played by Ben Savage, brother of The Wonder Years' Fred Savage, and whose family seems to hold the niche of coming-of-age TV shows) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) have a 13-year-old daughter named Riley. Savage and Fishel have already signed on, and the show is being produced for the Disney Channel.

Last but not least, while both of Allison Brie's TV shows – Mad Men and Community – are currently on hiatus, she reminds everyone how funny she can be, dishing about her reality-show addiction and dancing the Charleston.

The Weekly Schmooze collects the hottest Jewish culture news from around the world. Ranging from celebrities to philanthropy to quirky communities, we're here to schmooze about Jews. If you have any news to share with The Weekly Schmooze, write to: weeklyschmooze@gmail.com
