Peres offers personal condolences to Mizrachi widow

President Shimon Peres spoke on Wednesday night with Haddas Mizrachi, the widow of Baruch Mizrachi and told her that her husband had been “the quiet pride of the nation.”
Peres offered condolences on his own behalf  and on behalf of the nation of Israel, and said “I know your heart is broken. The hearts of all the people are broken over your loss. Baruch was a wonderful man who excelled in everything he did and in everything that he passed on to your children. He was the quiet pride of the nation, and always put the needs of others ahead of his own.  But this time it was you who saved your children. I am certain that you will be strong for Baruch and raise your children in the way that he would have wanted – with honesty and integrity”
Peres voiced the traditional wish that Haddas Mizrachi should know no more sorrow.
Haddas Mizrachi told the president of the fateful moments of the shooting in which her husband was killed and said “Baruch saved us all when he realized that there was a terrorist and accelerated the speed of the car.  He was hit by a bullet and died instantly. I continued to drive while the terrorist continued to shoot in our direction.  He had no compassion for us. My only source of comfort is that my children were saved. I will be strong for all five of them. I will make progress slowly, but I will succeed and my children will also serve the state.”
Baruch Mizrachi was killed by gunfire Monday night, as the family was driving on a road near Hebron, just hours before the Passover holiday began.
