Simhon signs updated law on chemical and radiation exposure

Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Shalom Simhon signed a set of new regulations designed to protect workers and reduce their exposure to hazards substances and radiation in the workplace, the ministry announced in a statement on Wednesday.
In the new regulations, prior to implementing occupational and environmental monitoring checks, offices will now need to conduct preliminary surveys that will include identification and appraisal of harmful factors and from this they will plan their monitoring protocols, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the new rules will conform to Threshold Level Values for air quality and follow the Biological Exposure Indices, guidelines produced by the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists, which contain updated standards on exposure to mercury, benzene, lead, arsenic and radiation, among other things.
