SPNI praises founder’s Israel Prize win

Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced on Wednesday that Azaria Alon, a founders of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) is one of this year’s winners of the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement, along with Rabbi Haim Druckman, the head of the Bnei Akiva Movement.
SPNI CEO Kosha Pakman praised Alon’s win, calling Alon an “example and wonder of love for the country.”
“For dozens of active years, Alon educated and taught many, distributed to the widespread public his vast knowledge on the geography of Israel and led and participated in numerous environmental battles for nature and for the public” Pakman said. “Alon is an environmental symbol, icon and pioneer, and we wish him many more years of environmental and educational achievement.”
