Senior cop investigated for sexually harassing females

A senior Israeli police officer was investigated on Monday following allegations that he sexually harassed a number of female police officers.
The officer, whose name has not been released, is a district commander.
He underwent investigation at the Justice Ministry’s police investigative unit for several hours on Monday, where he reportedly cooperated with investigators. It is still unclear what crimes he is accused of.
In a similar case late August, then-Jerusalem police chief Nisso Shaham resigned following allegations that he sexually harassed a number of policewomen.
“[Shaham] agreed to leave his position as district chief, taking upon himself the responsibility and understanding that the position needs to be filled at the present moment,” the police spokesman’s unit said in a statement at the time. Public Securities Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch accepted Shaham’s resignation.
