Khamenei blames US, Israel for unrest in Syria

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei blamed the US and Israel for the crisis in Syria during a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi, Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency reported Friday.
During their meeting on the sidelines of the NAM summit in Tehran, Khamenei blamed the ongoing turmoil in Syria on what he called plots hatched by the enemies, and called on the Assad regime, which he described as an "oppressed government," to reveal these plots in order to enlighten the world about realities in Syria.    Khamenei reportedly also warned against Western interference in Syria, saying the "NAM is definitely more entitled to politically deal with the Syrian issues than the US, the NATO and certain European states."
Addressing the NAM conference on Thursday, al-Halqi also attributed the unrest in Syria to a foreign conspiracy, claiming that "terrorists are backed up by certain foreign states."
