The Jewish and Palestinian peoples should live in separate states, for their own benefits, USA Today quotedPalestine Liberation Organization ambassador to the US Maen Areikat as saying on Tuesday."It would be in the best interest of the two peoples to be separated," he said, referring to the potential establishment of a Palestinian state.According to USA Today,Arekait's comments were made at a meeting with reporters in Washington, in light of the approaching PA bid for a UN vote on Palestinian statehood at the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting in September. Elliott Abrams, a former US National Security Council official reportedly responded to the notion of such a state as "a despicable form of antisemitism," adding that, "no civilized country would act this way."
