Suspected burglar flees from police, breaks leg in J'lem

A potential burglar ended up having to rely on the authorities to extricate him from a wadi outside the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo on Wednesday morning.
According to police spokesman Shmuel Ben Ruby, the man was in the courtyard of a building when he aroused the suspicions of police on patrol on Baruchi Street. When the police asked to see his identification, he fled on foot. Police shot in the air as a warning, and the man threw himself over a fence into a wadi, dropping about 8 meters and breaking a leg in the process.
Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated the man in light to moderate condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem.
Police believe the man was an illegal Palestinian infiltrator from the West Bank and that he was trying to burglarize an apartment.
