Adam Teva V’Din (Israel Union for Environmental Defense) launched a campaign to protect the nation’s beaches on Thursday, coinciding with the opening of beach season.Each year, the organization said, it receives dozens of complaints about beaches, the organization said. On average, 63 percent of these complaints are related to beach entrance fees, 15% are related to fencing or barriers that obstruct access, 17% are related to issues of pollution or cliff erosion and 5% involve beach construction.“There is a huge gap between the importance that the public finds in protecting beaches and the destructive policy that enables the closure of beaches and building upon them by captains of fortune,” said Adam Teva V’Din executive director Amit Bracha.
