Meningitis alert for NY-area gays

The Health Ministry has advised men planning to fly to New York who might have sex with other men there, to get vaccinated against meningitis due to a outbreak of the meningococcal C virus among homosexuals in the city. The disease, preventible with the vaccine, is liable to cause disability and even death. The safe and effective vaccine is available at all clinics for those going overseas and is operated by the District Health Offices, the health funds or privateinterests. To make an appointment, call the ministry at *5400.
