The family of a 24-yearold motorcyclist killed in a road accident Monday immediately after the end of the Passover holiday agreed to donate his organs for transplant. The NGO Israel Transplant said that by doing so, Nadav Kreiman saved the lives of five others.
Kreiman was rushed to the Rabin Medical Center- Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva with very serious injuries that caused lower-brain death.
A heart and kidney were given to a 51-year-old father of three who lives in Oranit. Because of serious heart failure, he underwent an artificial heart transplant at Sheba Medical Center in January 2012. As it was not permanent, he waited for the donation of a human organ. Beilinson doctors said after the 16-hour surgery that the two organs were functioning well.
Kreiman’s other kidney went to a 29-year-old woman who underwent her third transplant. His lungs went to two other patients at Beilinson, a 64-year-old man and a 67-year-old man.
His liver was donated to a 66-year-old man, also at Beilinson.
