Iran FM: We have not demanded US talks

"Ayatollah Khamenei will decide on strategy for US discussions."

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced Wednesday that his country has not officially demanded discussions with the US, according to a PressTV report.
“We have always reiterated the Islamic Republic's stance towards the US approaches [in the Middle East] and Washington's foreign policies, ” Iran's state news agency quoted the foreign minister as saying on Tuesday at a press conference with Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong.

The US has struggled with its failure in the region as a result of its incorrect policy, Mottaki said.
Teheran has repeatedly said that US coercion or intimidation will not tolerated.
“We suggest that the US rectify its incorrect policy failures and adopt a constructive and transparent approach, free of propaganda, for the implementation of the Teheran declaration and a fuel swap deal,” Mottaki was quoted as saying in the report.
Turkey, Brazil and Iran in May reached a deal in which Teheran agreed to send Turkey 1,200 kilograms of low-enriched uranium in return for fuel to be used in Iran's medical research reactor, PressTV reported.
The US and European allies rejected the deal and enacted a fourth round of sanctions against Teheran through their influence at the UN Security Council. The sanctions were followed by additional US and European sanctions, which focused on Iran's banking and energy sectors.
Sanctions will not bring about results and will only negatively affect the sanction-sponsoring countries Iran announced, as it reiterated its ability to meet demands self-sufficiently.
Kazaem Jalili, spokesman for the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy, told PressTV that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei would be the one to decide on a strategy for future discussions with the US.
The spokesman stressed that if Khamenei were to allow discussions and devise a strategy, the US might officially demand talks with Iran.
Foreign Minister Nor Namhong announced that Cambodia condems any sort of sanctions against Iran and stressed that his country is against unilateral sanctions against Teheran, according to PressTV.
