Last week, to beat the heat of the summer sun, the Ga’ash Golf Club held a nine-hole Twilight Tournament featuring 48 golfers playing a better-ball Stableford, 75% handicap competition.
A pair of teams tied atop the leaderboard on 21 Stableford points, with the duo of Itzik Ashkanazi and Zalman Shahaff beating the Gadi Iram-Eddy Hoffman partnership on the countback.
Shahaff was the top shooting, playing the nine holes in 1-over-par 36, which included a birdie, six pars and two bogeys.
Nearest-to-the-pin prizes – sponsored by the Greenfield at Ga’ash restaurant – went to Steven Weil, while all participants were treated to a wine tasting by the Montefiore winery.
Meanwhile, more than 40 golfers took on the perfectly manicured Ga’ash links in the July Monthly Medal as Greg Eliot returned to form by scoring a gross 77, which was the best score of the day.
The A Division was won by Moshe Nessis, with Raphy Harroche in second place. Gershon Feldman took top honors in the B Division, with Norma Kaufman finishing second by beating Yigal Barnea on the countback.
Ilan Mendelsohn won the Super Seniors event, with Shmulik Almagor in second place.
Nearest-to-the-pin prizes – also sponsored by the Greenfield – went to Nessis and Harroche.
