The investigation team handling the Mishchakei Hevra ("Party Games") sex crimes investigation into popular singer Eyal Golan informed Head of Investigations and Intelligence Division Maj.-Gen. Boaz Balat on Tuesday that, from their perspective, there is no justification for taking further investigative steps in the case.
The announcement follows Maj.-Gen. Balat's directive last week to freeze the investigative completions initially considered under the framework of the affair.
In a document forwarded to senior police officials, the investigators noted that no new evidence was found that could alter the evidentiary basis of the case, which had already been closed.
According to the investigation team's position, there is currently no legal or factual basis to reopen the proceedings regarding Golan in this matter.
Police estimate that, in light of the position held by Tel Aviv District Central Unit investigators, Maj.-Gen. Balat is expected to inform the State Attorney's Office that, from the police's perspective, there is no need for further investigative action in the Party Games case.
A final decision on the matter is expected in the near future.
Additional case likely to be closed
Concurrently, the police intend to continue examining an additional sexual misconduct case against Golan (the "Beautician" case). Within this framework, the complainant and the private investigator involved in the case are expected to be questioned again.
According to estimates, following the completion of the examinations and the questioning of Golan, it appears likely that the case will also be closed.
