As a young boy I heard my mother say 'Galicianer' in the same hushed whisper that she used to say 'cancer'. As a young man I heard Israeli Ashkenazim refer to Sephardim as 'Schwartzers'. But, the younger generations seem 2B shedding this destructive intrafamily prejudice. An Israeli friend's boy crashed at our place twice during his America trip. His grandparents were from Lodz. His 2 friends' grandparents came from Cairo & Istanbul. 2 girls who crashed w/us during their treks were Ashkenazi & Iraqi. The Iraqi girl's elder sister is married to a French Ashkenazi olem. Israel is growing up.
