Dozens took part in a flash mob held in central Tel Aviv on Friday afternoon, pausing in place for three minutes to show their support of a continuation of the government's controversial settlement construction freeze.

The event was organized by a number of activists and circulated widely on Facebook and Twitter in recent weeks. The message behind the flash mob, called “Freeze for the Settlement Freeze”, was that ending the freeze jeopardizes the peace process.RELATED:PA may not bolt talks after all when freeze endsIsrael denies paying porn peddler high sum for twitter IDOne of the organizers, Eyal Raviv, said the flash mob was chosen because new media and internet social networking enable such actions to reach a very wide audience.
One of the organizers, Eyal Raviv, said the flash mob was chosen because new media and internet social networking enable such actions to reach a very wide audience.“We chose this because it just works,” Raviv said, mentioning a previous flash mob video filmed in 2008 that has reached over 23 million views on Youtube.Raviv, one of the founders of peace activist group “Mepeace”, said he believed such demonstrations are important because “people can influence the government, especially when we come together and use creativity and ingenuity.”The ten-month settlement freeze was approved by the cabinet on September 26th of last year and is set to end next week. Nevertheless, on Thursday a PA official in Ramallah indicated that renewed building would not necessarily mean an ends to talks between the two sides.
