Israel threatens to leave World Press Federation

Israel will leave the World Press Federation if the organization does not retract its comment regarding the IDF's attacks on a television station belonging to the Hizbullah Al-Manar TV, Army Radio reported Sunday. The Federation stated that Israel's attacks were against the principle of the freedom of the press. The attacks on Al-Manar proves Israel's policy of the use of force as a means of quieting press organizations with which Israel does not agree, said Aidan White, Secretary-General of the Federation. An official letter written to the Federation by Israeli reporters states that the condemnation of Israel's actions represents overt support for terrorism.
