A man named as 25-year-old Aviad Ben Shalom was stabbed to death in Netanya on
Wednesday night.
Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the
slaying after launching a two-hour search.

The suspect told police during
questioning that he acted in self-defense. The suspect’s brother, also wanted in
connection with the stabbing, made contact with Army Radio’s crime reporter on
Thursday morning and turned himself in.
Emergency vehicles were called to
a street in Netanya earlier after receiving reports of a seriously injured stab
victim.
The man suffered multiple stab wounds, paramedics said. Doctors
at the city’s Laniado Medical Center declared him dead on arrival.
Police
suspect that the attacker is a neighbor who lived in a building nearby. An
argument had preceded the stabbing, police added.
Earlier, in Ashdod, a
16-yearold boy was seriously injured after being assaulted by another youth at
the Simon shopping mall.
The youth was taken to the Barzilai Medical
Center in Ashkelon in serious condition.
Ashdod police officers arrested
a suspect on suspicion of assault.
Also in Ashdod on Wednesday evening, a
35-year-old resident of the city was shot and seriously injured by a gunman
riding on a motorcycle or moped, police said. The man has been hospitalized at
the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
Some media reports speculated that
the shooting was related to a heavy debt, adding that the shooting victim’s
father had been shot at in the past.
Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv, a female
security guard was arrested on Wednesday evening after opening fire at an
apartment from which two youths, aged 20, had thrown eggs and water
balloons.
The youths, who were detained by police for questioning, said
they threw the items as a prank, and had not imagined that the guard would
respond by firing shots. No one was injured.
