Police and the IDF have launched an extensive search for a missing soldier who
failed to show up at his base on Sunday morning.
The Air Force cadet,
named as Eshel Zilberstein, lives in northern Israel, and was supposed to be at
the Hatzerim base on Sunday. He was last seen near at a shopping mall near Beit
Yanai Junction, north of Netanya.
Army sources say all directions are
being checked, but suspect that the disappearance is linked to personal
circumstances rather than kidnapping.
Zilberstein was on leave, and was
expected back at the Hatzerim airbase in southern Israel.
Police
scrambled a helicopter to assist search efforts on the ground.
Hundreds
of police, backed by sniffer dogs, and soldiers are assisting in the
search.
Zilberstein was last seen wearing an Air Force jacket, blue
jeans, and blue sneakers with yellow and white stripes. He was carrying a bright
blue black pack.
