In just a few short days, the annual Hot Dance Festival will kick off at the
Suzanne Dellal Center. Now in its 15th year, the festival takes over the
southern Tel Aviv compound each summer with a smattering of dance
performances.
The festival will span July and August with over 50
shows.
This year, alongside the established dance companies such as the
Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Kamea Dance Company and the Yasmeen Godder
and Fresco Dance Group, a number of budding troupes will be presented for the
first time. Yair Werdyger’s Magic of Ireland will enjoy its premier engagement
in Tel Aviv’s most treasured dance center.
Noa Dar Dance Group and Orna
Porat Theater will return to the festival with productions sure to delight the
entire family. From the flamenco community, The Israeli Flamenco Company Compas
will two children’s shows as well as a new evening production.
In
addition, many independent choreographers will take part in this year’s
program.
Niv Shenfeld and Oren Laor will show Ship of Fools, Rachel Erdos
and Ido Tadmor’s And Mr. will return to the stage and Odelya Kuperberg will
premier a new evening-length production for five dancers.
International
guests include the Guangdong Modern Dance Company with Between Body and Soul and
British choreographer Nigel Charnock’s premier of Haunted by the
Future.
