Alanis Morissette show sold out
Tickets for Canadian rocker Alanis Morissette’s
December 3 show at the Nokia Arena have all been sold, according to the show’s
promoters. The show will mark the last date of Morissette’s “Guardian Angel”
tour in support of her seventh album, Havoc & Bright Lights.
Opening
the Morissette show will be Natan Goshen, the young Israeli singer, who months
after releasing his debut album Another Face was named ‘composer of the year’ by
ACUM, the organization of local composers and music publishers.
Goshen
was chosen by Morissette’s staff from a list of possible candidates to open the

Let there be guitars
Fans of lightning-fast guitar solos
will be in heaven on December 12 when Guitar Day 2012 takes over Reading 3 in
Tel Aviv. Three acclaimed international guitarists – Israeli Oz Noy, Preston
Reed and Andy Timmons – will converge on the club to perform in their
distinctive styles with their respective bands. Noy started his career in Tel
Aviv clubs before moving on to New York, where he has released five albums and
in 2008 was named “best new talent” by Guitar Player magazine. He’ll be
performing with his Twisted Blues Band.
Reed has been credited with
reinventing acoustic guitar fingerpicking with his unique style, and has toured
the world as part of a Guitar Masters project. And Timmons, who perfected a
heavy metal style of playing with his band Danger Danger, will be performing
with his own band, playing music from their latest album, Andy Timmons Band

Bezalel prize winner opens new exhibit
An
exhibition opened last week at the Bezalel Gallery, Yaffo 23, in Jerusalem,
featuring Amnon Ben-Ami, who was awarded the first-ever Ilana Elovic Bezalel
Prize for Painting in April of this year. The $20,000 prize is named in memory
of self-taught Israeli-American artist Ilana Elovic.
Ben-Ami has
presented numerous solo exhibitions during his 30-year career, at the Tel Aviv
Artists’ Studio, the Chelouche Gallery for Contemporary Art and the Dvir Gallery
among others. He has received numerous art prizes over the years. The exhibition

Tavares’ smooth sounds
to grace TA
Next month, the successful World Music Series, under Idan Reichel’s
artistic supervision, will host Sara Tavares. A successful young
singer-songwriter from Cape Verde, Tavares’ music is a fusion of gospel, funk
and soul, with sounds from Africa and Portugal.
Tavares represents the
new generation of Cape Verdean singers who emerged in the wake of Césaria
Évora’s transglobal success, and were born off the islands, part of the age
group whose parents emigrated from the bleak Atlantic islands off the coast of
Senegal to Portugal in search of work.
Tavares will perform December 7 at
10 p.m. at The Opera House-Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. For more info visit
